
In the past decade, Henning has been involved in a broad range of successful energy/utility advisory transactions, including acquisitions and divestments of energy and utilities assets (incl. corporate), joint ventures and strategic partnerships all over Europe. Experience in the power sector mainly includes numerous mandates for RWE AG in Eastern Europe such as the Project M&A advisory regarding their market entry in Bulgaria (total investment volume > 8 bn €) or regarding several power plant projects in the Western Balkans. In addition, he advised Electrabel on its market entry in the Romanian power generation market and was responsible for the advisory in relation with Norwegian Statkraft's entry of the Turkish power market in 2009. He has advised Verbund and EVN on various acquisition processes in the renewable energy sector and is co-advising the Turkish privatisation agency on the privatisation of the national electricity distribution sector which has already resulted in proceeds exceeding 10 bn USD for the Turkish state.
M&A experience in the oil sector includes advising the Serbian government on the sale of state owned NIS, the Turkish government on the sale of Petkim and advising the German government on the sale of one of the largest oil and gas storage facilities in Etzel/Germany. Experience in the gas sector include e.g. advising German Thyssen Krupp on its sale of a Ruhrgas stake to E.ON, advising a consortium of CIS investors on the acquisition of gas distribution assets in different regions of Ukraine, the sale of German ZVO Gas & Wärme to MVV and the sale of German SW Cuxhaven AG to EWE. In addition, he was mandated by Land Steiermark, the majority owner of Austrian Energie Steiermark, to evaluate the company including their oil activities.
Henning studied law and corporate finance and earned a degree from the University of Munich. He received a Ph.D. (Dr. degree) from the University of Bayreuth.
