In the course of reorganizing its business segments, Metsäliitto decided to divest Finnforest Baco, one of the largest blockboard producers in Eruope, as a non-core asset. Metsäliitto ranks among the 10 largest global forestry companies with approximately EUR 4,8bn in sales in 2009. Finnforest Baco Production has an annual turnover of EUR 20m and an annual production of 80,000 cubic meters of blockboard. In the future, Holzindustrie Schweighofer will focus on higher value added products and solutions. Especially construction solutions and finish wood products, which are known for their ecological sustainability, a realignment of procurement and distribution logistics will enhance the company’s performance. Finnforest Baco Production will be renamed to "Schweighofer BACO".
The transaction was closed in February, 2010 and Raiffeisen Investment acted as financial advisor to the seller.
