Privatisation of the Turkish electricity distribution sector

The Turkish Government is currently in the process of subsequently privatising regional electricity distribution companies owned by TEDAS (Turkish Electricity Distribution Company). Raiffeisen Investment is advising together with Lazard and McKinsey the Turkish Privatisation Agency.

 

This transaction represents the largest privatisation mandate in the history of energy privatisations in South Eastern Europe and put us in front of all M&A advisory leaguetables in SEE and Turkey.

Turkey's Privatisation Agency has announced on Monday, 9th of August, 2010 the winning bidders for four further electricity distribution regions: Bogazici, Dicle, Gediz, and Trakya:

 

Karavil-Ceylan JV has submitted the highest offer during the auction for the privatisation of the Turkish electricity distributor Dicle Elektrik. The JV between the Turkish appliances producer Karavil Dayanikli Tuketim Mallari and the Turkish construction company Ceylan Insaat has offered USD 228m fo Dicle Elektrik. Dicle Elektrik received nine bids before the deadline for submission of offers.

 

Is-Kaya, the Turkish construction company and MMEKA, the Turkish conglomerate, have offered the highest bid in the privatisation of the Turkish electricity company Gediz Elektrik. Is-Kaya and MMEKA have jointly offered USD 1.92bn for Gediz Elektrik. Gediz Elektrik had received 10 bids before the deadline.

 

Aksa Elektrik, the Turkish energy company, has submitted the highest offer during the auction for the privatisation of the Turkish electricity distributor, Trakya Elektrik. Turkey's Privatisation Authority announced that Aksa offered USD 622m for Trakya Elektrik. Ten bids were submitted for Trakya Elektrik Dagitim before the deadline to submit bids for its privatisation.

 

Is-Kaya, the Turkish construction company, and MMEKA, the Turkish conglomerate, have jointly offered the highest bid during the auction for the privatisation of Turkish electricity company Bogazici Elektrik. Is-Kaya and MMEKA have jointly offered USD 2.99bn for Bogazici Elektrik. Bogazici Elektrik had received 10 bids before the deadline.
